ABOUT US: Downstate Health Physicians (DHP) represents the faculty of SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, Brooklyn's only academic medical center. DHP is looking for an energetic, eager, ATC-PE (Physician Extender) to work in our Orthopaedic and PM\&R outpatient clinics assisting physicians with patients and daily operations. This individual should possess strong anatomical knowledge, excellent patient care and competent evaluation skills. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package. SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Expectations-promote excellent patient care in all aspects of the position. Maintain charts, records and relevant paperwork. Conducting injury screenings for student-athletes. Working the injury clinic on the weekends (rotating staff schedule) Generating and implementing in-home exercise programs. Assisting with day-to-day operations (inventory, ordering, stocking, cleaning and maintenance of equipment, etc.). Assist with pre-participation physical examinations of high school and collegiate athletes both on and off site. Communicate with referring ATC or MD. You will have the opportunity to perform outreach services as an ATC to the local community and numerous established accounts within University Sports Medicine (USM). All communication must maintain confidentiality and be HIPPA compliant. All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, health clearance, compliance training and maintain credentials for continued employment and adhere to the UHB Principles of Behavior. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, hygiene, nutrition, taping, bracing, emergency procedures, conditioning, prevention of injuries, injury evaluation, rehabilitation procedures and a familiarity of protective equipment. A Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) who has graduated from a CAATE-accredited Athletic Training program. NATA certification, NYS certification eligible, current CPR and AED. Preferred three to five years of experience in Orthopaedics. CSCS, OTC, OPA, EMT, all a plus for the ATC-PE. \\Emerging ATC professionals are encouraged to apply.
