Vibrant Vitality Medical Wellness Center, PC, dba Noblesville Urgent Care JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title: Medical Assistant Revision Date: June 2020 Reports to Title: Medical Director Department/Location: Noblesville, IN FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Supervises: not applicable Supervisor: POSITION PURPOSE: Verify client’s insurance and collect co-pay, if needed. Perform vitals on patients and assist the Medical Doctor and/or Nurse Practitioner with in-house laboratory testing. REQUIRED ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Set-up room and perform vitals on patient 3. Medicine dispensing 4. Order and organize inventory and supplies 5. Verify patient insurance information 6. Perform in-house labs for provider 7. Conduct daily temperature logs 8. Ability to work some weekends 9. Ensure lab drawn blood, urine, swab and process specimens are packaged for lab company 10. Obtain test results (lab/x-ray) and specialist notes from referral 11. Maintain /organize marketing materials, and implement social media as needed or indicated by physician or the office manager 12. Conduct environmental controls, i.e., clean toilets, sinks, floors, carpets, tables, chairs; empty trash; tidy the waiting area, disinfecting and sanitizing throughout clinic, etc. 13. Visit local providers and pharmacies as a company representative 3. Scheduling and pre-authorization of tests REQUIRED EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE: Education Requirements High School diploma or GED equivalent required Associate degree in, or successful completion of, a technical specialty program of 9 months to 3 years duration (such as an externship program) for Medical Assistants, preferred Basic Life Support Certification Knowledgeable of HIPPA guidelines, Company Policy \& Procedures, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines 3 to 6 months of experience preferred not conditional Office Equipment: Phone, computer, copier, calculator, software, Electronic Medical Record System, Word, Excel, scanner, EKG machine and all vital sign equipment(s) REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES - The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities necessary to perform this job. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents, in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in English before patients, groups of customers or employees of organization. MATH SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING / PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. JOB COMPLEXITY: Work requires judgment in applying well established procedures and methods. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: No Medical Assistant Page 2\ of 4\ SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Receives close supervision. Actions are clearly specified and directed by the Nurse Practitioner, Medical Doctor, and Medical Director or by procedures. Supervisor assigns and reviews work. CONFIDENTIALITY: Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality as to the following information – product and program information, employee pay or status, patient / client / customer information, financial matters and government reporting. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Within the Company Interaction: Interfaces with physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Office Manager and office staff over 50% of the time. Outside the Company Interaction: Interfaces with Company representatives, pharmacies, vendors, and provider offices up to 15% of total working hours.
