Mid Level Data Scientist
As an Mid-Level Data Scientist, you will Apply operations research, optimization, and analytical methods to improve processes, resource allocation, and mission outcomes Lead Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and process automation initiatives, integrating data, tools, and AI capabilities Analyze complex datasets to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization and automation Assist in collecting, processing, and analyzing data from various sources Develop and maintain data engineering solutions and visualizations, including dashboards Collaborate with team members and cross-functional teams to identify data-driven solutions for business problems Support senior data scientists in developing predictive models and algorithms Create and maintain data documentation and reports A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a STEM or STEM-related field 5-10 years of experience applying operations research, optimization, or advanced analytical methods Strong familiarity with at least one programming language (Python preferred) Strong familiarity with process automation Understanding of data collection, data analysis, and data visualization techniques Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication abilities Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the North Alabama area Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a secret clearance Desired Qualifications Strong programming and software development experience Experience with RPA platforms (e.g., Power Automate) Experience applying AI/ML technologies and Generative AI (e.g., Large Language Models (LLMs)) and integrating these technologies Experience with optimization solvers and OR tools (e.g., Gurobi, CPLEX, R, SAS, SPSS, Minitab) Experience with statistics and applied machine learning (regression analysis, time series, probabilistic models) Experiential knowledge of applying classification and prediction algorithms (e.g., K-nearest neighbor, SVM, gradient boosting, neural networks, decision trees, and K-means clustering) Experiential knowledge of applying classical statistical techniques (e.g., dimensionality reduction (principle component and factor analysis), conducting hypothesis testing, testing for significance, and ANOVA/MANOVA) Experience developing and maintaining data pipelines and MLOps Experience developing dashboards Experience with Agile software development methodology Experience with Missile Defense Agency or other DoD organizations Experience working with cloud services, such as Microsoft Azure About Gray Analytics Gray Analytics values our employees as our most important resource.
