The Analytics Lead Scientist I works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters. Usually assisted by laboratory technicians/associates. May be responsible for setting and defining technical objectives and assessing results. Comply with divisional and site Environmental Health and Safety requirements. The Role: * Develop and execute laboratory work plans/schedules independently, using customer milestones and Division/site performance standards and metrics. Sample types include in-process, release or stability. Techniques include HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer, Disintegration, Friability, Hardness, and appearance. Perform method development, validation, and transfer activities. * Independently authors technical documents, such as protocols, test methods, text reports, certificates of analysis, and operating procedures * Review technical documents for accuracy, thoroughness and regulatory compliance * Directs work of technical staff regarding work assignments * Responsible as Technical Lead on multiple projects, with responsibility for project outcome and customer interaction, including developing customer relationships to grow the business * Develop and execute efficiency improvement projects * Identify and recommend business opportunities on a project specific basis * Trains, coaches, or mentors others on technical, person development or business issues * Other duties as assigned The Candidate: * Bachelor's degree in related life science or physical science field with a minimum of 11 years related work experience OR Master's degree in related life science or physical science field with a minimum of 9 years related work experience OR Doctorate Degree in related life science or physical science field with a minimum of 5 years related work experience required. * Hands‑on experience operating HPLC and Karl Fischer (KF) required; experience with GC, ICP-MS and Size exclusion chromatography (SEC) preferred. * Internal expert on data interpretation, applications, instrumentation and theory in at least one area of expertise * Based on broad technical skills and drug development experience, anticipates and identifying unmet customer needs * Propose, evaluate, and assess impact of proposed changes to controlled documents and/or project scope * Leadership skills are expected as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external customers * Well organized and ability to handle multiple projects as well as efficient time management * Physical Requirements \& Work Environment: Ability to perform duties including standing constantly, walking and sitting frequently, and lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 40 lbs; requires occasional kneeling and frequent reaching. Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and vibration, constant exposure to potential hazards, and occasional exposure to temperature changes, humidity, wet conditions, and extreme heat or cold. Manager, Global Comparator Services Position Summary: UK Based, Remote The Catalent CDS Global Comparator Services Department supports pharmaceutical and biotech companies, CROs, and clinical trial sponsors by sourcing commercially available medicinal products for clinical studies and analytical testing. The team leverages a global supplier network to secure competitively priced products with optimal shelf life and manages GDP/GMP-compliant logistics to Catalent sites, depots, or clinical locations. The department includes Comparator Sourcing, Service \& Delivery, and Comparator Quality teams. The Manager, Global Comparator Services partners with the CDS Business Development team to grow the comparator sourcing business with new and existing clients and is responsible for achieving revenue and margin targets while collaborating cross-functionally on all comparator sourcing activities. The role: Sourcing Request: Manage sourcing requests from new and existing clients, both external and internal clients (e.g. Catalent project managers, Catalent sites). Conduct research of the requested products through commercially available databases in order to identify the appropriate manufacturer/supplier and market to source from, prior to reaching out to suppliers. Ensure appropriate project related questions are asked upfront in order to ensure the suggested sourcing route/strategy meets the clients’ requirements. If applicable, organize a meeting with the study sponsor to discuss and evaluate their commercial product requirements and potential supply chain strategy. Ensure discussions are held with the broader CDS teams for complex study designs to identify any potential issues or gaps that could result in delays in project start-up. Focus on identifying the appropriate commercially available medicinal product and customize the sourcing strategy to meets the client’s needs. Suppliers: Drive the negotiation with Catalent’s approved suppliers to meet client’s expectations, which may include but not limited to pricing, lead time, fees, payment terms and documentation availability. Follow up with suppliers on enquiries and ensure to choose a supplier that provides not only the most competitive price but meets the required deliverables, too. Constantly update the Catalent Comparator Sourcing Supplier Database with any relevant information received from suppliers especially if they have expanded their capabilities/market access. Identify and support the qualification of strategic suppliers and direct from manufacturers sourcing routes. Participate in strategic supplier meetings (BRMs and QBRs) and prepare meeting minutes for record keeping. Quotation and Document Retention: Prepare a COM Price Sheet for the suggested sourcing strategy in a timely manner in order to meet client’s dateline (where possible). Ensure the pricing sheet for an executable quotation is complete with verified and accurate product information, utilizing an up-to-date quote from the chosen supplier. Ensure crucial project details are clearly captured in the COM Checklist for proper handover to the Service \& Delivery Team. Ensure the information on the Quotation generated by the Proposal Lead is accurate before it is submitted to the client for review. Ensure all the important documents and communications are saved in the shared drive e.g. quotation from suppliers, COM Price sheets, etc. Maintain a tracker of all the sourcing enquiries and follow-up on all enquires to completion. Cross-functional Teams: Coordinate all the relevant activities related to comparator sourcing and communicate clearly with all the stakeholders involved in the project, especially around milestones that need to be kept in order to meet project timelines. Provide business support to the Business Development Team and client specific team(s) to ensure end-to-end customer satisfaction and accuracy. Support the business development and legal teams to manage comparator procurement terms and conditions and contract negotiations with new clients. Assist with RFI (request for information) / RFP (request for proposal) to determine scope of work and how to best position Catalent’s services to the client. Participate in client meetings (BRMs and QBRs) and prepare meeting minutes for record keeping. Financial: Responsible for achieving annual comparator revenue, margin and sales targets. Ensure the Comparator Sales Funnel is up to date with close dates, margin, success probabilities, order percentages, and lead times to help drive forecast. Provide comparator sales related data for management reporting. Growing the Business: Act as the Comparator Sourcing SME to support the Business Development team to grow the CDS business. Refine and tailor comparator services slides for client presentations and present at client meetings. Utilize commercially available platforms to identify potential clients for comparator sourcing and crosspollination for packaging \& distribution services, and work in collaboration with the Business Development Team to target these clients. Attend clinical supply chain/clinical trial focused conferences and be an advocate for Catalent’s Global Comparator Services and to develop, manage and grow client relationships. Others: Strictly adhere to GMP/GDP guidelines and internal SOPs. Ensure all the necessary training are up to date and maintain records through ComplianceWire. Contribute to a continuing critical review and enhancement of working methods, technologies and techniques, documentation systems and SOPs. Business travel attending client meetings and industry conferences. Any other duties which may be assigned to this post. The candidate A degree in Business or Life Sciences is preferred, but not required. 3 to 5 years' experience in the clinical trial supply/comparator sourcing field. Self-starter who is able to work as part of a team. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Mandarin, Korean, or Japanese would be a strong asset. Excellent customer relationship skills. Experience with comparator sourcing is preferred. High attention to detail. The ability to develop and maintain the relationship with a network of suppliers and negotiate competitive pricing and favorable terms. Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time with the ability to work independently and with a sense of urgency.
